The classical techniques of Yoga date back more than 5,000 years. In ancient times, the desire for greater personal freedom, health and long life, and heightened self-understanding gave birth to this system of physical and mental exercise which has since spread throughout the world. The word Yoga means "to unify," and it brings the body and mind together into one harmonious experience.

The whole system of Yoga is built on three main structures: Exercise, Breathing, and Meditation

The exercises of Yoga are designed to activate the glandular systems of the body, thus increasing their efficiency and total health. One can view the body as a vehicle that enables us to work and evolve in the world, and so a Yoga student treats the body with great care and respect.

The breathing techniques of Yoga are based on the concept that breath is the source of life in the body. The Yoga student gently controls the breath to improve the health and function of both body and mind.

The body and mind are prepared for Meditation as a result of exercise and breathing, and the student finds an easy approach to a quiet mind that allows silence and healing from everyday stress. Regular daily practice of all three parts of this structure of Yoga produce a clear, bright mind and a strong, capable body.

Easiest
Appropriate for everyone, including those with physical limitations

Chair Yoga is perhaps the gentlest form of yoga and offers many of the benefits of a traditional class such as increasing strength, deepening flexibility, breathing technique, balance and body awareness. It is practiced either sitting on a chair or using a chair for support. It is ideal for people who are aging, have health issues or disabilities that limit their ability to get down on the floor, or stand unassisted. Chair Yoga offers many benefits to expand both mental and physical fitness regardless of limitations. No experience is necessary for you to begin your transformation!

Beginner-friendly

No experience required; ability to get down (and back up) for floor poses recommended

Each class contains a kriya (a series of coordinated movements, postures and breath work), mantra, meditation, and relaxation. Our intention for each class of Kundalini Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, is to share this knowledge system in order to elevate the individual and improve the quality of life for all who attend. We will modify poses to best serve our bodies, develop the consciousness to become our own best teachers, and uplift each other.

Emphasis on moving with the breath in a slow, conscious way: incorporates modified sun salutations, along with other standing and seated postures for increased flexibility, stamina, balance and strength. While the pace is a bit faster than the Gentle Yoga class, it is slow enough for you to adjust your practice in a way that really fits for you.

In this beginner-friendly class we focus on alignment of breath, body and mind. By bringing our entire selves into our awareness, without judgement, we become aware of our physical, mental and emotional habits and strengthen our inner wisdom and connection. While organically moving through yoga poses and breathing, we practice awareness of the chakras, their corresponding body centers, and their role in healing specific areas of our lives.

Intermediate
Physically demanding; experience recommended

In Intermediate Hatha Yoga, Yoga of the Hatha tradition is taught and practiced in a traditional form, which intends to purify the body, quiet the mind, and align subtle energetic movement.

Students advance their practice through postures with longer holds and more advanced variations, pranayama (Yogic breathing), and chanting. Yoga philosophy is discussed and incorporated into our asana practice. This class is appropriate for students who already have some familiarity with Yoga and would like to experience more of the subtle and joyful aspects of the practice.

An energetic class that synchronizes breath (pranayama) with specific postures (asanas) that builds, in gradual stages, toward a peak within a class session. This flow class is all about continuous movement and breath. The class builds strength, flexibility, balance and endurance. Through the practice there is a natural alignment of the body, mind, emotion and spirit that leads to an experience of peace, power and flow both on and off the yoga mat.

This is a multi-level class. Modifications are given so each yogi can tailor the class to suit their individual level; from a gentle to a more vigorous practice. All are welcome.
